The Misadventures of Landis Dean: August 2010

Hello everyone! We've been here in our house for about a month now, and it's feels so much like home, it's like we've always lived here. It's so weird... I, personally, am incredibly glad to not be in the desert anymore. I do find myself thinking, "Hey, I'm kinda bored... I wonder what so-and-so is doing. Oh wait, I guess it doesn't really matter." So, we miss our friends, definitely. But I felt oppressed, or depressed, or something while living in Tucson. It just wasn't the place for me. And although its hard to pick up and start over again somewhere else, we still feel like this is where we are meant to be. We are very close to choosing a church home, we have a few friends who are starting to feel like extended family, and Landis and I are involved in a TOTS group through one of the churches we are visiting. Its a very nice bunch of ladies :o)

Brandon is still waiting on his security clearance to pass, so he's stuck doing a whole bunch of nothing for now, which makes him antsy. We're hoping it will get approved very soon so he can get on with the fun stuff!!! While he waits, he is also anxiously awaiting getting our basement finished! That will be exciting for everyone! The washer and dryer are down there, and its creepy... it will have a laundry room and even a bathroom. not sure what else will go on down there yet, but we're excited to have the space and the opportunity to have more room for visitors! (hint, hint!!)

We were sad to lose Gir just a week ago. It's not a tale I like to tell, so if you'd like the details, or the not-so-detailed version, we can chat. He was hurting, and just not well, and on a better note, he's not suffering anymore... so we try to hold on to that.

Brandon's squadron had a picnic, and he was in charge of face painting! Landis was his first victim! His fishy turned out so great! Brandon did a great job!!! Everyone was VERY happy with their faces...
